Juha Mikkonen

Kuka olen?

Olen terveyspolitiikan ja -hallinnon, terveyden edistämisen ja päihdetyön asiantuntija. Urallani olen toiminut yli 23 vuotta laaja-alaisissa johto-, asiantuntija- ja kehittämistehtävissä Suomessa ja ulkomailla.

Koulutukseltani olen terveyspolitiikan ja -hallinnon tohtori (PhD in Health Policy and Management, York University, Canada), valtiotieteen maisteri (VTM, Helsingin yliopisto) ja sosiaalipsykologi. Lisäksi olen suorittanut yritysjohtamisen erikoisammattitutkinnon (YJET) ja työnohjaajaopinnot.

Julkaisuni kattavat kirjoja, artikkeleita ja raportteja sosiaali- ja terveyspolitiikan alalta suomeksi, englanniksi ja ranskaksi. Väitöskirjani Intersectoral Action for Health: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions in the WHO European Region käsitteli poikkihallinnollisen terveyden edistämisen haasteita ja mahdollisuuksia.
 
Ulkomailla olen työskennellyt muun muassa Maailman terveysjärjestö WHO:n konsulttina Kööpenhaminassa sekä tutkijana Yorkin yliopiston terveyspolitiikan ja -hallinnon laitoksella Torontossa Kanadassa.

Suomessa olen työskennellyt muun muassa Lääkäriliitossa ja monipuolisissa luottamustoimissa lukuisten eri yhdistysten hallituksissa sekä työryhmissä, kuten valtioneuvoston nimeämässä kansanterveyden neuvottelukunnassa. Omaan kattavat verkostot sosiaali- ja terveysalan päätöksentekijöihin.

Olen kiinnostunut hyvinvoinnin edistämisestä sekä yhteiskunnallisen päätöksenteon ja tieteen välisestä vuoropuhelusta. Uskon vahvasti yhteistyöhön eri aloja edustavien ja erilaisia kokemuksia omaavien toimijoiden kanssa. Toivon pystyväni työni sisällöissä yhdistämään teoreettisen tiedon ja käytännön toiminnan.

Tällä hetkellä työskentelen Ehkäisevä päihdetyö EHYT ry:n toiminnanjohtajana. Vastaan järjestön johtamisesta, sisältöohjauksesta ja sidosryhmäyhteistyöstä. English biography

Dr. Juha Mikkonen (Helsinki, Finland) is a public policy professional and social psychologist with over 23 years of professional experience. During his career, Dr. Mikkonen has held leadership positions in numerous non-profit organizations to promote health and well-being. Currently, he works as the Executive Director of EHYT Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention. He has received his PhD in Health Policy and Management from York University (Toronto, Canada) and Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki in Finland. Dr. Mikkonen is a practice-oriented expert in the areas related to health promotion, intersectoral action, and the social determinants of health. Previously, in his role as a consultant, Dr. Mikkonen has provided expert advice to think tanks and international organizations, such as the World Health Organization.
